Not the property, but the feel and flow of the holes.ģ. I drove over one evening last summer and walked around for about an hour. But, don't get me wrong.good course, but more in the 40 to 60 ranking range. #17 and #18 as a routing issue I didn't like that you have to walk 1/4 mile under the road to the other side of the course to finish up. But, some the overall feel just wasn't there like you were playing a top course (as you get at a Pacific, Bandon, Arcadia, Wild Horse, etc.). Espcecially, I think it is #7 with a huge bowl in front, that green in awesome. I really liked the greens as well as far as topography and pin placement options. But, the feel of the course wasn't what I was expecting. ![]() A lot of options and I think I used every club in the bag twice, which I really like in a course. My favorite thing of the course was the shot values. Nice of you to come on here and point out that - in your opinion - Brauer's work didn't deserve the accolade for Best New!Īs I posted in my trip thread I liked Quarry at Giants Ridge but was startled in the clubhouse that they had a plaque saying they were best new affordable and #16 overall. I am on the environmental commission for East Lansing and work as a civil engineer and saw first hand how much dirt was moved and water created. The course is deffinetly not a minimalist course. #9 is one of my favorite par 5's anywhere. I'll hold my comments on individual holes until I see who has played it and what they think but to me its signature are the par 3's and #9 and #18. It was designed by Chris Lutzke (worked under Dye). I think that it being there detracts from quality of the rest of the course. Only thing that bugs me is that it's "signature" hole is an exact replica of #17 TPC Sawgrass. ![]() Of the two other that were in that same list that I have played (Quarry at Giants Ridge #1 and Circling Raven #7) I felt Eagle Eye was better. It was #5 best new upscale this year in GD. After my recent trip and playing several top 100 publics (according to GD) I really feel that this course is a great course and is deserving of some recognition. Wondering if anyone else has played this course and what they thought of it.
